This audio theatre performance, fully dramatized and unabridged, was first broadcast on Public Radio International on Thanksgiving Day 2000. The Wizard of Oz was adapted by Firesign Theatre's David Ossman, and produced and directed by David and Otherworld Media's Judith Walcutt.
In addition to René as The Scarecrow, a few other members of the extensive cast include Robert Guillaume as The Cowardly Lion, Nestor Serrano as The Tin Woodman, Michelle Trachtenberg as Dorothy, Harry Anderson as The Wizard, Annette Bening as Glinda The Good, Phyllis Diller as The Wicked Witch, and Mark Hamill as Munch the Munchkin.
-For a while, the program was available for purchase on CD from a company called Lodestone Media, with proceeds benefitting the Los Angeles Children's Museum. However, as of summer 2010, I have not been able to locate any website where the production is archived or for sale. If anyone knows where to find it, please let us know.
