Nobel Peace Prize Awarded to
Doctors Without Borders!
On Friday, October 15, the 1999 Nobel Prize for Peace was awarded to Medecins Sans Frontieres, known in English as "Doctors Without Borders," a non-profit organization "committed to two objectives: providing medical aid wherever it is needed, regardless of race, religion, politics or sex and raising awareness of the plight of the people we help."
René has frequently called attention to the life-saving work of Doctors Without Borders in the course of his Star Trek-related charity fundraising activities. If you have ever bought a photograph, cartoon, or bumper sticker at René's autograph table at a convention, or purchased other fundraising items from his fan club, ORACLE, (such as the Odo-Files Journal or the new cookbook, Sustenance for Solids, both still available) then you, too, have contributed to this worthy cause.
We can all be proud for having done our bit to aid the work of this truly world-renowned organization!
Visit the Doctors Without Borders website to learn more about their current activities.
